National Geographic #stopmetplastic beach cinema
Stop plastic! National Geographic’s message is loud and clear. They have joined forces with three surf clubs and Fast Forward for a perfect, plastic-free world. The main idea behind NatGeo’s #stopmetplastic is to get people to think about plastic pollution. Windekind Surf club from Oostduinkerke, the O’Neill Beachclub from Blankenberge and Twins Club from Bredene know first-hand how serious the plastic problem has become. Which is why they were so happy to join us on this project. Because it takes just a small step to bring about a sea of change. In this case, the first step consists of banning disposable plastics, like straws, bottles and bags. The surf clubs set the good example themselves and hope the rest of the seaside population will soon follow suit.
In the meantime, National Geographic has transformed the three surf club into Beach Cinemas, where they screened the confrontational documentary ‘From Source to Sea’. In it, Plastic Soup Surfer Merijn Tinga alerts people to this threat.
