Slow party ? Fast Forward !
No cars on the road? All the more room for activities! Commissioned by Shortcut, Fast Forward turned Car-free Sunday in Brussels into a vibrant event, with special attention for safe(r) traffic. During Car-free Sunday, the spotlight was firmly on zone 30, the speed limit we all tend to exceed occasionally. For this we organised a SLOW dance, where people were able to slow dance to, yes you got it, 30s music. Pascal Smet, Minister of mobility of the Government of the Region of Brussels-Capital, and Bianca De Baets, State Secretary for Road safety of the Brussels Metropolitan Region opened the dance for this initiative.
The excellencies did so … excellently.
In keeping with this retro-music the whole event was one big trip down memory lane: a gramophone DJ, colourful candyfloss, old school dance-floor, stretch tent and furniture, a dance instructor who looked like he came out of a Marlène Dietrich movie, etc.
Conclusion? Nobody missed their car for a single minute during Car-free Sunday in Brussels. Apart from may be the odd dance move here and there...
